More "Hairy" Chemo Hats

I finally got the camera out of hibernation, so I figured I'd show you a couple more pictures of my "Hairy" chemo hats.  These were made more for the pre-teen and tween sizes in mind.  Figured they might get a kick out of "changing hats, changing hair" 100_1272.jpgall at one time.  They're being sent down to St Judes Hospital for Children. 100_1294.jpg I hope they give me some feedback on them - good or bad.  That way, either I'll  make more "Hairys", or I won't.  They are kinda cute, dontcha think?  ;-p  The blonde with the headband reminds me of me looking in the mirror in the mornings with all my turkey tails sticking up all over.

Well I tried out my first testing pattern for a lady in Ravelry, and am about to get started on my second one.  The first was a capelet, and I used a baby alpaca yarn since the wraps per inch were the same.  And oooohhh, that alpaca is sooooo soft!  The way the stitching was done, it has a great "squish between the fingers" going on.  You know what I mean, when you squeeze your fingers around a piece to see how it feels.  Like a kitten kneading for a soft spot.  This has it!  The second will involve felting my second ever bag.  That pattern looks pretty neat too!  Good luck on both patterns, ladies, and thanks for letting me test on them!

If you're not a member of Ravelry yet, whatcha waitin' for?!  Sign up today! Its a free site.  Boy, talk about getting lost "window shopping" on different fiber projects of any sort you can think of.  Drool, drool, sigh, ooohs and aaahs galore right along with smiles and giggles.

Time to snooze and get a couple extra hours in.  I don't have to work tomorrow since Missyboo has her first school play and I get to go.  Yay!  One of the few things I get to do school-wise with/for her.  I walked in the door this afternoon and the first thing she asked me was: "Well, did they say yes?"  (meaning did I get my personal day approved)  I think I need a chiropractor to fix what she undid with the major hugs I got!

Have a good night.  :)

Granny Squares

Hi to y'all!

I didn't realize it had been so loonng since my last post!!!!  Where did the time go?!  Oh wait a minute, I think I do know.  It went past me while I was laid out on the living room floor, sewing GRANNY SQUARES together!  They are not my favorite thing in the world to make, and if the project was mine, it would not be done, not with my hooks anyway!  LOL  In the last 4 weeks I have made two blankets, one with 56 squares and the other with 81 squares.  The 56 square wasn't so bad, the squares were pretty decent sized with Vanna's Choice yarns.  But the other one..........sock thread!  81 of them darn things (darn = sew = arrggh) with sock thread (excuse me, yarn!)  I need new eyeballs!!!  Or better yet, a good whack on the back so the eyeballs will uncross. ;P  But I have to admit, after all the sewing was done, they looked pretty darn [ (= sew = ) not again ] good!

But I desperately needed to get away from SQUARES, so I took some of my stash to work with me and made Missyboo a modified hooded scarf like mine, and a chemo hat for my CGOA chapter's hat drive.  It felt sooooo good to make something rectangular, angular and circled!  (poink)  Oops, sorry about that, one eyeball uncrossed itself!  Maybe if I make a couple more chemo hats tomorrow, the other will revert to "normal" vision!  I'll be getting the pics up as soon as I get a few more hats done.

I also need to get started on a few projects for me to take/wear for the CGOA conference in NH this summer.  I've got a room booked already, and I can hardly wait for the class schedule to come out.  I want to see now so that I have time to drool over all the choices, then look in the pocketbook to see how many I can squeeze in.

Well, Dee Jr., I'll be standing still for you to give it your best shot with 3 snowballs, after that its fair game!  And I was SO positive the Superbowl would be with my Packers and your Patriots this year!  Ah well, there's always next year.  ;D

Have a good night.  :)

Sunday Meetings

Sunday Meeting #1:

We had our monthly chapter meeting today at the Danbury Hospital.  We had a "chemo hat in the round" workshop today.  I also found out that none of the cancer patients registered are children.  They're all adults.  So all my "Hairy" chemo hats are going to St Jude's in Tennessee.  I've got my fingers crossed that we'll hear a bit of feedback on them, because if the kids like "Hairy", I'm more than willing to make more of them!  :D  (hey look mom, change my hat, change my hair color!)

A few of the ladies and I also discussed getting together in Feb for some (gasp!) knitting lessons.  One of the ladies does both crochet and knitting, and she was kind enough to be the "volunteer" teacher.  You're a brave one, Priscilla!  (hope we didn't twist too hard on your arm!)  It should be an interesting day!  I might even be able to use these four large, metal toothpicks I managed to pick up somewhere or other.  ;}

I also got some new yarn for my stash from others who brought theirs in to start de-stashing.  Missyboo loves the colors I brought home.  "What will you make me from that one, Mom?"  Hmmmm.......  Thanks for sharing, Ladies!

Sunday Meeting #2:

I belong to a group on Ravelry called Crochet Liberation Front, and one of the moderators has started a blogring for any and all members of CLF who are interested to join their crochet-related blogs to the ring.  I actually managed to get mine up and running!  I'm so proud of myself!  (thanks for the help, Laurie! :D)  So all you CLF-ers out there, get together! Get on Ravelry, click on the blogring thread, join up!

Sunday Meeting #3:

NY Football Giants vs Dallas Cowboys.  Yay Giants!  Watch out, Dee Jr., my Packers are one step closer to that Feb. 3rd meeting with the Patriots! {VVBG}

Have a good night!  :)

The Color Pink

You know, its funny....I was complaining yesterday about my daughter's fascination with the color pink. Given a choice, she will always choose pink. Then it dawned on me earlier today ~ the background on this website is PINK!!!!!    Arrggghhh!  I guess I know where she gets it from!  LOL

Have a good night. :)

Guest blogging stint

I did a guest blog on Dee's site, and I'm sorry to say, I'm still not very tech-savvy!  And it sounded so simple to do...via email to her site.  The entry was finally posted with Dee's help, but the pictures did not make it with the posting, so.....here they are.

This first one is for Missyboo's new Jane Sneddon Peever's Double Feature sweater, in mostly pinks as you can see.  She had no choices in the other colors tho!  Whew! (but I don't think I like that green one with this mix. I'll have to swatch it and see) Would have been more pinks!  Sorry, I just don't get the fascination of that color for little girls!  The second is my Cluster Hooded Scarf from Peter Franzi that I was doing in my first crochet-along

100_1303.jpg                                  100_1306.jpg

with some of the people over at Crochet Partners at Yahoo Groups.  I have the hood finished now, but sorry, no fresh pictures to go with!

But I did make my reservation today at the Raddisson Hotel in Manchester, NH for the CGOA conference in July!  WooHoo!  My first ever conference, and I can hardly wait!  I wish the class schedule was out already so I could SEE!!!! what I want to sign up for!  LOL

Dee, I so glad Ruth heard you so soon and found a special way to let you know she heard you!  That's great!  Keep watching, listening, she'll talk to you some more, too!

Have a good night. :)
