60 Scarves in 60 Days

It's that time of year again (already?!) forDee Stanziano's annual scarf drive!   And I have 3 scarves done already with matching hats for my guild (The Happily Hooked on Crocheting Club's annual donation to the Salvation Army.  We make  up hat, scarves and mittens sets for the annual drive, and give it to the Salvation Army in Danbury just after Thanksgiving.  The last two years we've donated over 100 sets!

As I said, I've got three sets done now, and I have enough of that yarn left to get/squeeze out about another three.  I don't even remember where I got this yarn, but it's about the size of the One Pounders, but I think it's all Bernat yarns.  There were no ball bands on two of the three I bought, but they werecolor co-ordinated, and about the same size/weight.

Now Dee says my Caron pattern scarf, Aqua Blue, could be the start for me this year, but I'm not going to count that one since I don't have it anymore!  I'll just have to make a new one.  lol

So....if you want to participate, here's the rules.  I've copied them straight from Dee to you to make sure I don't forget anything!

  • Crochet or knit a scarf (or more) for charity. You can use a pattern (give credit to the designer if that’s what the pattern calls for!), learn a new stitch, or create your own pattern.
  •

  • Pledge it for a local charity near YOU; no need to ship! Check with your local homeless shelters, Salvation Army, religious institutions, and schools to find a home for your scarf/scarves.
  •

  • To have your scarf count towards the goal, you can go on Ravelry, upload an image and label it ”2009 Scarf for 60 Day Challenge.” Or post about it on your blog and leave the link here in my blog comments.
  •

  • The scarf/scarves must be created by hand between September 1st and November 30th, 2009, midnight, eastern time, to count. (Yes, we know this is really 90 days, but we’re keeping the name of 60 days)
  •

  • Any skill level, age and gender can participate! Spread the word!
  •

  • If you have a website or blog, feel free to save the image above to your own computer and display it proudly!
  •

Have a safe holiday weekend!  :D
