CGOA Conference Dates

It's that time of year again!  Time to plan out what classes to take at the annual Crochet Guild of America National Conference, July 7-July 10, 2010.  This will be my third year attending, and I absolutely love going!  My first year it was held in Manchester, New Hampshire, last year it was in Buffalo, New York.  This year is back to New Hampshire, and I think it will be a lot more fun than last year simply because it's all in one place - the hotel, the conference rooms, the class rooms and the market place.  In Buffalo, there was a bit of walking involved to get from the hotel to the classes.

No matter where it's held though, the choice of classes, whether it be finishing techniques, new style of stitch making, or other types is pretty impressive, and the teachers I had for my classes have been amazing.  Karen Klemp, Dora Ohrenstein, Susan Lowman, Dee Stanziano, Carol Ventura, just to name a few.

The people attending these conferences are pretty amazing too!  I've met people from my own neighborhood, to people from as far away from the East Coast as Alaska.  The stitched items I've seen, whether wearables or accessories, were gorgeous.  The sense of camaraderie was something special, too!  If you've never gone before, seriously consider doing so, at least once in your lifetime.  You won't regret it!

The national conference is run together in conjunction with The Knitting Guild of America, and this is TKGA's 25th anniversary this year.  From looking at the preview of classes, there seems to be  a LOT more knitting classes offered than I remember from the last two years, but maybe that's to be expected in an anniversary year.  I do find that kind of puzzling, as this is the Crochet Guild of America's National Conference, and the TKGA's regional conference.  When the TKGA has their national conference, it's the CGOA's regional.  Far be it from me to figure some things out.  But I'm actually thinking of taking a couple of the knitting classes this year!  I might get myself laughed at since I've been told I knit weird, and because I'm so slow at it, but que sera, that's life.  lol

Have a good night, and hope to see you in Manchester!  :D
